Term Definition
Dendrites Receive multiple inputs from other neurons – both excitatory and inhibitory
Cell Body (Soma) Generates an electrical impulse or not, called potential
Axon Extending arm of neuron that carries the neural impulse
Axon Terminals Fatty substance that covers the axon; speeds up the neural transmission and protects the axon
Excitatory More excitatory inputs = cell generates an electrical charge (fire)
Release (1)Nts are released into the synapse
Binding (2)Nts attach to their complimentary receptors
Reuptake (3)Nts are being reabsorbed into the axon terminal after binding
Breakdown (4)Enzymes break apart the nts
